Job Reports To: Engineering Manager or Engineering Lead
Job Summary: The Senior IP/Telephony Engineer is a multifaceted position requiring three primary activities with responsibilities in pre-sales system and network design, network implementations, and customer technical support.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

• Works with engineering and sales teams to determine the appropriate technology recommendations through the presales process.

• Ensures all Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Statements of Work (SOW) define the equipment and effort required to meet business requirements and customer expectations.

• Provides design, installation, technical support, upgrades and optimization of various network communications and systems.

• Configures network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, content networking, and voice and video applications from multiple vendors.

• Performs project management tasks to include, overseeing all preparation, data collection, performance, and completion for new critical projects.

• Analyzes vendor product specifications and evaluates product performance as well as network operations.

• Performs technical presentations for customers, partners and prospects.• Performs customer support activities for data communications equipment and networking system products.

• Ensures all assigned presales requests have been fulfilled.

• Updates the Engineering Manager (EM) on scheduling and project status.

• Provides technical guidance and support to other Network Engineers as needed.

• Contributes to Virtual Team, online forums and email threads on distribution lists.

• Engages in continuous learning to stay abreast on new and emerging technologies. This includes obtaining vendor-related certifications (Professional level certification required – CCNP, CCVP, or similar), to enhance professional development and our corporate standing with our vendors. 


Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.


• Minimum CCNP or CCVP Certification required or must obtain certification within first year of employment.

 

• Experience 5+ years of related experience

 

Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in the English language and reading comprehension.

• Basic knowledge of software and/or hardware, testing and implementation.

• Relevant knowledge in Network Management, Security, Planning, Traffic Engineering and Implementation.

• Knowledge and demonstrated operating experience in a minimum of 3 of the following areas of specialization:- Internetworking Routing and Switching- WAN Networking Architectures & Protocols- IP and/or Legacy Telephony Systems and Applications- Wireless Bridging & LANs- Security Systems & Applications- IP Video Conferencing & Surveillance- Network Management Systems and Applications- Project Management
